MUSIC

  • As involved as you want to be. We start with a conversation about the atmosphere you want for your guests, and the music you love. From there, I create shared Spotify playlists around your chosen genres, decades, eras, and key tracks, so you can add favourites and shape the direction. Any do not plays are noted separately, so you can be confident you’ll only hear the music you love.

  • Yes. From ceremony entrances and exits to first dances and evening highlights, I’m happy to suggest ideas, including tracks you may not have considered, and help you choose music that feels right for each part of the day.

  • I DJ spontaneously and eclectically, mixing genres and eras with confidence. I specialise in dance music and pop, with a wide knowledge of music from the 1960s through to the present day across many popular styles. I thrive on moments where an unexpected track drops and the room reacts instantly.

I also tend to play tracks that are maybe unusual or not as often played. I believe that what can bring a party down is uninspired music choices and playing it safe. A lot of DJs stick to firm favourites and  ‘low hanging fruit’, which will always be the most popular tracks that have heard time and time again, and people gradually switch off.

When DJs lean on the predictable choices, it can strip the night of any personality. It doesn't feel special. I think a party is about showing people who you are, as a DJ and a real person. People want to know someone has listened to the them and who is making choices based on that.

Its like a conversation, and for a DJ to play something generic, it can come across as ignoring the uniqueness and personal tastes of everyone in the the room.

  • Yes. This is a big part of my work. I mix confidently across decades, genres and eras, moving between styles in a way that keeps people included and connected on the dance floor, while staying true to the evening musical direction.

  • Yes, when it fits. I take requests if they suit the direction we have agreed, and the vibe on the dance floor. They might be just the right suggestion to take things up a notch. If something appears on your do not play list, it will not be played.

  • This is something we can discuss in advance. Some artists are clearly not appropriate to play, particularly where serious criminal convictions are involved. For artists who have been widely criticised or cancelled due to controversial views or behaviour, this is handled case by case, guided by your preferences and the context of the event. The same applies to song content and lyrics, ensuring everything played feels appropriate for you and your guests.

  • Only if it suits the event. Some celebrations need clean and family friendly music, while others are happy with stronger language later in the evening. We will agree what feels right for you and your guests in advance.

  • This can happen for a variety of reasons, and it is often shaped by factors beyond the music itself. Let me explain.

Firstly, visibility plays a crucial role. If the dance floor is in a side room, positioned around a corner, through a corridor, or in another part of the building, it can unintentionally create an invisible barrier. When guests cannot clearly see the activity, lighting and energy of the dance floor, they are less likely to gravitate towards it.

Secondly, people naturally gather in areas that feel comfortable and social, such as near the bar or food. If these are positioned away from the dance floor, guests may remain in those familiar spaces rather than making the move onto the floor itself. The transition needs to feel easy and natural, not like stepping into a another world.

Thirdly, other moments during the evening may draw attention away, such as late speeches, cake cutting, or planned set-piece moments that shift the focus.

    So what’s the solution?

Before the event, we’ll talk through the layout and schedule, anticipating where attention may drift and working with it so that everything has it’s place and different elements are not competing with each other to be seen.

Ideally, the dance floor sits within the main space where guests are already gathered, with the bar in close proximity. When guests can hear the music clearly and see others enjoying it, they may already be moving before they finally commit to the floor.

But what if it IS the music?

On the night, I pay close attention to what is happening in the room. If the music is not connecting, I adapt and change direction. This can be because the audience is varied and people may be waiting for a change in genre, tempo, or to hear their favourite track.

My role is to respond in real time, read the energy, and guide things towards a moment where people feel comfortable stepping onto the dance floor and then staying there.

  • Yes. I play regularly at Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club, and you’ll also find recorded mixes on the website. There are Spotify playlists available too, which give a good sense of my music tastes and the range of styles I work with.

PROFESSIONALISM

  • As much or as little as you want. If hosting is needed, I make clear and confident announcements and support key moments without interrupting the flow. My approach is calm and respectful, guiding the event without overshadowing you or your guests.

  • I dress smartly for private events and follow your event’s dress code. Typically, this means a suit or a shirt and tie, paired with smart shoes and trousers rather than casual wear or jeans.

  • No. For private events, I do not drink before or during the performance. I approach your event professionally and stay fully focused. At the very end of the evening, I may have one drink once the music has finished, if appropriate.

EVENT SCHEDULE

  • Most evening events follow a similar rhythm, with music beginning early evening and finishing around midnight. The exact start and finish times are planned around your venue and the shape of your event, and everything is scheduled in advance.

  • An Event Run Sheet is a clear, personalised timeline for your celebration.

It outlines key timings, important names, how you’d like to be introduced, and the agreed music for special moments such as entrances, speeches, first dances, or party starters.

It also notes any specific cues or transitions so everything flows naturally on the day.

You’ll receive your Event Run Sheet in advance to review and confirm, giving you complete clarity and confidence in how the event will unfold.

Once agreed, it becomes our shared reference point and can also be shared with your venue, planner, photographer or other professionals to ensure everyone is aligned.

  • I set up and sound check before guests arrive. I confirm timings, access, layout and technical requirements with your venue in advance, so everything is ready well before the event begins. If I had to put it down to a duration, then just over an hour. Packing up is a similar length of time.

  • Most events finish at the time agreed with the venue, since they may be closing. If the night is still in full swing and the venue allows it, continuing a little longer can sometimes be arranged on the night.

Overtime is charged at £100 per hour.

LOGISTICS

  • Yes. I bring professional sound and lighting suitable for private events, weddings and corporate celebrations. The setup is chosen to suit the space, the timing of the event and the atmosphere you want to create.

I have a dance floor PA, mostly for evening, and also a portable battery powered solution for ceremony or background music and speeches.

  • Yes. If a venue has its own sound, lighting or DJ booth, I’m happy to use it, provided it supports the kind of event you want to create.

I can discuss that with them to better understand exactly what equipment they have and its suitability for the celebration.

  • This depends on the setup being used. I will confirm space requirements with you and the venue in advance to ensure everything fits comfortably and safely.

  • Access for setup, a suitable power supply and confirmation of layout. I liaise directly with the venue ahead of time so you do not need to manage this yourself.

BOOKING & PAYMENTS

  • Start by getting in touch via the enquiry form or email. I will reply within 24 to 48 hours, and we can arrange a call or meeting to talk through your plans If you’d like to proceed, your date is secured with a signed contract and a non refundable booking fee.

  • Yes. I am based in London and available for events across the UK. Travel is included in your quote, with no hidden fees.

  • Once you’re booked, we’ll arrange a few calls or meetings to talk through your plans in detail. I’ll gather information about the day, confirm logistics with the venue and any other professionals involved, and refine the music so it reflects both your tastes and the people you’re celebrating with.

We would have an initial chat, then drop in and out to discuss things as the event builds.

We would then have a final chat to confirm details around two or three weeks before the event. This is to check we’re all on the same page regarding the schedule as well as the playlists and do not plays, and that you are happy with what we have planned.

Before the event, I’ll prepare a clear Event Run Sheet tailored to your celebration. This includes a detailed schedule with key timings, names of those involved, how you’d like to be addressed, cue points for important moments, and agreed songs for entrances, speeches and transitions.

It can also include selected tracks to open the dance floor or close the night.

You’ll receive this in advance to review and confirm, giving you complete clarity and confidence in how everything will flow. Once agreed, it becomes our shared reference point for delivering your celebration smoothly and professionally.

My aim is to understand what matters most to you and make the experience feel calm and well prepared.

  • Yes. Everything we discuss, along with the relevant policies, will be clearly set out in a contract. This is signed by both of us, so you know exactly what to expect and where things stand.

  • The booking fee secures your date and confirms my commitment to your event. It covers the preparation and admin work that begins immediately after booking. The fee is 25 percent of the total.

  • Full payment is due 28 days before the event to ensure everything is confirmed in good time.

  • My prices are listed as “from” because each event is slightly different. Travel is included within a reasonable distance, and if your event is further afield, any additional travel costs will be confirmed at the quote stage.

There may also be adjustments regarding the scope of gear brought. Lots of factors really, but the service will be outlined and explained in full on your quote and additional charges would only apply if things changed.

  • Yes. I understand that planning an event comes with multiple expenses, so I’m happy to offer structured payment plans where needed.

Once your date is secured with the booking fee, the remaining balance can be split into agreed instalments, with the full amount due 28 days before the event.

If this is something you’d like to explore, just mention it when we speak and I’ll outline the options clearly for you.

  • If you need to cancel your booking, please let me know as soon as possible via email.

Any cancellation made more than 28 days before the event will receive a refund of all payments except the non-refundable booking fee.

Cancellations made within 28 days of the event are non-refundable.

In the unlikely event I had to cancel for any reason, you would receive a full refund.

SAFETY & CONTINGENCIES

  • Yes. I hold five million pounds public liability insurance, professional indemnity cover, and all equipment is fully PAT tested. Documents are available on request.

  • Yes. I hold a basic DBS certificate, which is available for events that require it.

A DBS check confirms whether a person has a criminal record and is suitable to work around children or vulnerable groups.

  • Yes. Insurance certificates, PAT test reports and DBS documentation can be supplied as requested.

  • A lot of work happens in advance to reduce surprises, from planning and preparation through to checks with the venue and other suppliers. If something unexpected does happen on the day, I stay calm and focus on solutions.

Equipment is thoroughly checked before every event. I also bring backup equipment and contingency options, and I’m experienced in adapting when plans change.

Whatever the issue, large or small, my priority is to keep the event running smoothly and protect the experience for you and your guests.
